A special addition to our year was being able to be a part of Brittany and Jay’s Wedding in November. Brittany is one of our past team members, and we could be not happier for her and Jay!

December Recipe of the Month: Bourbon Cocktail

Get in the Holiday Spirits with this fun Holiday Spirit Recipe. A fun refreshment with one of our favorite things about our state….BOURBON.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 oz. Bourbon (or Brandy)
  • 1/2 oz. dark rum
  • 2 oz. whole milk OR half and half
  • 3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • Dash of grated Nutmeg

Bringing it all together

  • Pour all liquids (Bourbon, Dark Rum, Milk/Half and Half) into a Cocktail Shaker (like this one here) filled three-quarters with ice.
  • Shake it like a Polaroid picture…okay okay, shake it vigorously until chilled. (About 30 seconds)
  • Strain into a Rocks Glass, and dust with grated Nutmeg
  • Slip into your comfy Holiday Attire and enjoy!!

A little something extra sweet: Simple Syrup

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar

Heat water and sugar in a saucepan over low until sugar dissolves. Cool to room temperature before using, and store excess in refrigerator.

Crushed Ice Catering had the honor of being invited to join Louisville’s Original Maker’s Club. For those of you that don’t know what that is – it’s pretty much the “cool kids” club for local businesses. We are overjoyed to be in such great company with some of Louisville’s most unique and talented businesses, artists and culinary geniuses.

When Original Makers Club came to us for our official photo shoot – the wheels instantly began turning. As a catering company in Kentucky, we pride ourselves on being different. We say this daily; we are not your typical catering operation. And this photo shoot gave us the opportunity to express our mantra, without using words. It is oftentimes difficult to express our mantra until one has experienced the greatness of what I like to call the “Trifecta” of Crushed Ice Catering’s Talent. Lindsay’s vision for decor and placement, Chef’s unsurpassed talent for creating beautiful food, and Zach’s quirkiness adding just the right amount of “hipster” to our culture– The culinary stage is set for something grand.

A big “Thank You” goes out to OMC’s own, Josh Meredith, founder and skilled photographer.

Rather than continuing to boast about our catering credo – we will just leave these here…
